Fresh Particulars Come to Light Concerning the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
New information has come to light regarding the tragic passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.
Furthermore disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
