Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
