Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
